AG bath products

From my experience, girls in this age group do enjoy wearing non-colored lip balms and lotions and they like having lightly scented shower gels and perfumes. I don't think that providing this type of product is bad for girls this age. I think it is good for them to have something that can help they feel good about themselves without them resorting to real makeup. I don't think it is encouraging them to grow up too quickly. Love's Baby Soft products have been around for ages and they are light enough for girls in this age group to wear.

I agree entirely mayergirl. By that age, girls should be learning about personal hygeine and taking care of their bodies. AG also has the "Care and Keeping" books which are directed towards girls this age that talk about growing up and making sure that you take care of youself and keep yourself healthy. I think that this line is a perfect compliment to that, and I will be buying it for my nieces (and a bit for myself too [img]redface.gif[/img] ).

I am a little embarrassed because I thought it was more like beauty stuff...okay, although I think its good to start caring about your skin, but in a way I still just can't make myself appreciate this product line...
Although you do have a good point, that maybe if they use these and think these are really neat, it will pacify them enough that they won't turn to makeup yet...hopefully.

Does anyone think this is too much, I don't like it. I don't like it if its going to beauty products or hair products.

Are they marketing to older girls and teens to try to draw them back into AG?
Or are they marketing to little girls?

I don't have kids (I am only 20) but if I had an 8-11 year old I would not even want them caring about that stuff yet. I wouldn't want them worrying over what clothes they wear, how they do their hair, what facial stuff they're using, if their nails are done...

Why can't little girls just be little girls still...where they're maybe playing in their mom's stuff but its not like they really care about this stuff for real.
I guess things are changing and girls grow up younger and younger. But I don't like it when young girls are really starting to care about hair, clothes, nails, face stuff...I just feel like they will have plenty of time to worry over that when they''re teenagers.
I don't like that its getting to where they worry over it at 7, 8 years old. [img]frown.gif[/img]

I think that you definitely have a point, but in my observations (both of my little sisters have passed through those ages) around 8 or 9 girls DO start to like taking care of themselves more. I think it's a good idea to provide nice, quality lotions and things for girls that age so that they don't go to the local store and load up on things called lotions that then might lead to buying makeup or perfumes.
When I was into buying AG's clothing, I didn't have to look anywhere else for clothes because they were so nice and just stylish enough that I didn't have to worry. I think it could be the same with this new line- little girls may enjoy their beauty line so much they won't go looking anywhere else.

My DD (8) loves bath and body works children's line anyway. I'm hoping she will like this and it will encourage her to take care of her skin, etc. I don't want her into make-up but I don't have a problem with this idea. I haven't seen the products yet but I'm hopeful.

I agree with you StarTrekCaptain. I think AG is trying to make kids worry about make-up and that kind of stuff at a young age.

Well, I read a product description, and it appears to be lotions, lipbalms, shower gels, etc. The NAME of the line is "Real Beauty"!!! It is NOT makeup. Girls who are 8-11 years old should be perfectly capable of taking care of their skin and bodies. I get increasingly concerned each year that little girls only know how to put makeup on, and don't have a clue about actually taking care of themselves. I am wholeheartedly pleased to see this stuff, it'll teach little girls that if you take care of yourself, you don't NEED makeup. Finally.
